世界陸上・大阪の100メートル決勝でアメリカのタイソン・ゲイ(Tyson Gay)が、ジャマイカの世界記録保持者アサファ・パウエル(Asafa Powell)を破って９秒８５で優勝。

尚、アテネからの報道によると、ギリシャ公共秩序省は26日、各地で続発している山火事の放火犯の逮捕に結び付く情報を提供した人に、最高100万ユーロ（約1億5900万円）の報奨金を出すと発表したとのことです。
6月から断続的に発生している山火事は今月23日以降、ペロポネソス半島(The Peloponnese / Peloponnesus)を中心にの大規模火災となっています。
